What should I know about uniforms?

  • What should I know about uniforms?
    Parker School Uniforms is the supplier for PCA.

    Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday            10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
    Tuesday                                                     10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

    • Be aware that anything purchased can be returned within 90 days if the tags have not been removed and it has not been washed, worn or altered.  
    • Parker has an Early Bird Sale offering 10% off during the month of June.
    • The Parent Teacher Fellowship Used Uniform Sale for all grades is scheduled for Thursday, May 27th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Upper School Student Life Center. Check our website for any update information. Bring plenty of checks as each purchase requires a separate check.
What about school supplies?
  • What about School Supplies?
    • Pre-K3 through Kindergarten will have a supply fee added to each student’s account.   
    • First through 12th grade individual supply lists will be available online beginning June 1st.
What about summer reading?
  • What about Summer Reading?
    • Students entering 5th through 12th grade will have required summer reading.  PCA partners with Follett Virtual Bookstore and we recommend purchasing our novel(s) online starting June 7.  If you do not use the virtual bookstore, students are required to read the exact novel using the correct ISBN number. Assignments per novel are posted on the website June 7.  These assignments are due the first day of school.
How do I get in a carpool?
  • Zip code lists will be available upon request beginning Monday, August 16th at Back to School Day.  Four carpool number cards will be furnished for each family with Students in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade (Extras may be requested).  Students in 7th through 12th grade do not use numbers.
  • Directions and maps indicating drop-off and pick-up locations will come in the summer mailing and will also be available at Back to School Day.  Parents are asked to take advantage of the designated locations rather than parking and escorting your child into the building.

What food service is available?

Main Street Cafe

  • Main Street Café at Prestonwood can provide both hot and cold lunches.  Prices and information will be included in the summer mailing and will be available at Back to School Day. Main Street Café telephone number: 972-820-4350
  • Information on setting up a lunch account will be provided with the pricing information in the summer mailing and online.  Students keep an account balance that eliminates the need for them to carry cash.
  • Students always have the option of bringing a lunch from home.
Is extended care available?
  • Extended Day is available on actual school days for students in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade only.
    • Extended Day registration information will be included in the summer mailing and will be available online.
    • For students in Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten, Extended Day is available after school from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for an additional fee of $210 per month.
    • For students in 1st through 8th grade, Extended Day is available from 3:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for an additional fee of $190 per month.
    • For students in Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten with older siblings who need to be supervised from 2:30 p.m. until 3:15 p.m., Extended Day is available.  The rates are as follows:
      • $54 per month for PK 3-5, PK 4-5, PK 5 days, and Kindergarten Students
      • $32 per month for PK 3-3 and PK4-3 days Students
      • $22 per month for PK 4-2 days Students
    • Drop-ins are accepted with advanced notice for a fee of $10.00 per hour.
What are some of the important dates?  Will we receive a student summer review packet?
  • An Official School Calendar will be included in the summer mailing and the Back to School Guide in July.
    • Summer reading requirements for students entering 1st through 12th grade will be available online beginning June 1st.
    • An optional summer review packet for students entering 1st through 4th grade will also be available June 1st for pick up at the front desk of the Elementary Education Building.
    • Key School Dates are as follows:
      • Thursday, May 13th – Incoming 6th grade students for Band - Drop by between 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.  Upper School Band Room – U109
      • Monday, August 16th – Back to School Day (Meet the Teacher, All School Worship, Welcome Luncheon, and New Student Orientation)
      • Wednesday, August 18th  – First Day of School
      • Monday, December 20th   – No School, Christmas Break Begins
      • Tuesday, January 4th – School Resumes
      • March 7th – 11th - Minimester
      • March 14th – 18th  – Spring Break
      • April 22nd – 25th – Easter Break
      • May 27th – Last Day of School

What volunteer opportunities are available?
  • Parents are precious at PCA!  There are many opportunities for your involvement in all areas.  
When can I get a school directory?
  • The school directory is published in August and is available at Back to School Day. All address, phone, and contact information changes should be made in your online family profile through the school website. Before your online profile has been set up, you can direct this information to the Records Manager, Meg Manuel, at mmanuel@prestonwoodchristian.org or by phone at 972-930-4007.
How do I find out about class scheduling?
  • 5th through 8th grade –Please contact Claire Threatt in the Middle School Guidance Office at 972-930-4145 for scheduling information.
  • 9th through 12th grade – Please contact Debbie Considine in the Guidance Office at 972-930-4012 or dconsidine@prestonwoodchristian.org to set up a scheduling appointment.
Where do I go to access the online information and other important stuff?

    Most of the school’s communication is done via email.  It is extremely important for you to check your primary email account regularly.
